Oman E-Invoicing Guide

What Happens if an E-Invoice is Rejected?

A good invoicing system should turn technical validation failures into clear instructions the business owner can act on.

Who validates the invoice?

OTA's June 2026 FAQ states that the service provider validates invoices against Oman Schematron rules.

Typical problem categories

  • Missing mandatory data
  • Invalid buyer or seller identifiers
  • Incorrect VAT or calculation data
  • Unsupported code or value
  • Document structure failing technical rules

What should SME software show?

Not a raw XML error. It should display a message such as “Buyer VATIN is missing” or “Invoice total does not match line totals.”

Ultimate responsibility for invoice compliance remains with the taxpayer.
